The Install family – Gary, Debbie, Jess and Joe took over ownership the of Ferguson’s Delicatessen on the 15 September 2010. As Debbie works full-time, Jess is away at university and Joe is still at school the running of the shop falls to Gary – but with a great passion for food – especially cheese and olives there is no better place he can think of being…
Gary started working in restaurants in the late 1970s at the age of 15. After working up to the position of restaurant manager by his early 20s, he moved into hotel management. A love of food was what started the interest in restaurants and so when the move to hotels happened – it was always food and beverage that was the inevitable focus in every position. ”I always wanted to know where the food I was serving came from, and how it was produced. I wanted to understand local flavours and expertise, and I needed to be confident that I had the knowledge to make recommendations to my customers”.
After 25 years in hotel management, working for some international brands, Gary has now decided to follow the passion for fine food. “When you become involved with such a trusted local business, there is a responsibility to keep the things that customers have come to love over the years, while at the same time, it is great to be able to introduce new products that I have grown to love over the years”.
You can always expect a friendly welcome from Gary and his team (some who have been working in the shop for over 10 years) and the opportunity for you to test some products along with a ‘try before you buy’ philosophy with our cheeses – we look forward to welcoming you into our shop very soon.
